Mindfulness Meditation (All Levels/ Meditation)

An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, repeating until July 31, 2019
This class focuses on exercises in mental awareness, concentration and contemplation. It requires focusing your mind on the present moment and tuning out distractions.
Each week, you will learn and practice a different style of meditation or fine tune an existing practice. Exercises involve relaxing your body to focus your thoughts on something specific (i.e. your breath, sensations in your body, a loving-kind intention, inspirational message, image, or person.)
Mindfulness meditations can involve a specific breathing exercise called pranayama in yoga, a mental image or visualization, conscious awareness of the body, mind and emotions, or a “meta meditation” which focuses on sending loving-kind intention and energy toward others.
You may bring your own meditation pillow, mat and blanket or borrow props from the studio. Attendees are encouraged to bring a journal or notepad and writing utensil so they may journal their thoughts and experiences after each exercise.
